Frequently Asked Questions

Where do lessons and consultations take place? Are virtual lessons available?

Private sessions will usually take place at PrecisionCraft Center for Voice or virtually over Zoom. I’m also available at the Conservatory School for Performing Arts in Stoughton, MA, on a limited basis. I’m happy to travel, but there could be a travel fee applied, depending on services rendered and distance traveled.

What styles of singing do you teach?

All of them! Whether you’re interested in musical theater, pop, R&B, rock, folk, or classical, we’ve got you covered. Ideally, my students grow to understand their inherent stylistic versatility. We can all sing in all styles!

What ages do you teach?

Anyone who’s ready and willing should take lessons. I’ve taught 4 year old students who were very ready and 20 year old students who are not ready at all. It’s all about the individual.

What is the difference between voice lessons and vocal coaching?

Voice lessons primarily focus on building healthy and sustainable vocal habits. You’ll enhance your performance skills, boost your confidence, and learn how to navigate your instrument effortlessly. This is your technical foundation, and it’s a crucial part of your vocal advancement.

Vocal coaching looks more at the performance aspects of singing. This includes stage presence, style, audition preparedness, song choice, etc.

We aim for an integrated approach, offering a combination of technical and stylistic instruction. Emphasis on coaching will vary based on individual client needs.

What skill levels do you teach?

Professionals, beginners, hobbyists, and everyone in between are welcome. (Professional voice users, I find, get the most out of my diagnostic skillset. We can typically speak about the voice in a way that is more direct and empowering for the client.)

For vocalists looking for a more intensive mentorship route, check out our College Prep/Pre-Professional training in voice and composition.

Am I required to audition to participate in the Pre-professional tracks?

No audition is required. We take applications in order to understand each student’s goals and to ensure the intensive program is necessary and helpful.

What forms of payment do you take?

PCCV accepts card payment through our invoice portal. Cash and check are also accepted.

How/when am I billed?

Invoices are sent out on the first of each month for any services rendered in the month previous.

By request, I can also invoice bi-weekly.

Checks can be dropped off or mailed to the studio.

(If entrance is not unlocked during office hours, please call (774) 773-8534‬ to be let in.)

Anyone is welcome to pay their outstanding balance in person during Office Hours. (If I’m teaching, I won’t be able to write a receipt for you.)

I don’t do late fees, but please make payments within 7 days of receiving invoices.

Is there financial aid available?

We never want finances to a be a reason someone can’t experience vocal joy. If one of the above payment options doesn’t fit your needs, you’re encouraged to fill out a financial aid form. We will do our very best to accommodate.

What is your cancellation policy?

Unexpected things happen all the time, so I’ve tried to develop a policy that is flexible and fair for both parties.

  1. Free cancellation period: Any client who provides at least 36 hours notice will not be charged. Clients with pre-paid sessions can either be refunded or credited for a session at a later date.

  2. Cancellation charges: Any client who provides 24-36 hours notice will be responsible for half the cost of the cancelled session. Any client who provides less than 24 hours notice will be responsible for the full cost of the cancelled session.

  3. No shows: Any client who does not show up to their session is responsible for the full cost of the missed session.

  4. Grace clause: All clients of PCCV are allowed one (1) short-notice cancellation or no show without being charged.

  5. Teacher cancellations: If a session is cancelled by the teacher, the client will not be charged. Clients with pre-paid sessions can either be refunded or credited for a session at a later date.

The purpose of this policy is to incentivize clients to provide proper notice of cancellation. This gives me time to find someone to fill the empty slot.
